LCD panels are made of glass plates with a transparent plastic polariser at the front. Shock or excessive pressure applied to any part of the LCD panel can cause the glass plates to shatter. Once the glass panel is broken there is no way to repair it. The panel has to be replaced.

In some cases the fracture in the glass can be very difficult to see until the laptop is switched on. The crack will then appear and may have a rainbow effect around it. This is caused by the liquid crystals escaping in to other layers of the LCD screen. Vertical and horizontal lines on a cracked LCD panel.

Screens are often damaged when the laptop lid is closed with a pen or pencil is left on the keyboard or palmrest area. This type of damage can be avoided by checking that the keyboard and palm rest area is clear before closing the lid. We can supply original or 100% compatible screens for most laptops.
